Profile, sign-in and security
In shortSettings → Profile holds your look (light, dark or system), your language, and your account — name, picture, email addresses, password, two-step verification with an authenticator app, connected Google or GitHub accounts, and every device you are signed in on. A new email address is confirmed before it is used, and your receipts follow it.
Your profile is who you are in MonstarX and how you get in. Everything about it is on one page: SettingsProfile. You reach it from the menu under your name in the top-right corner — choose Settings.
What is on the Profile page?
Section titled “What is on the Profile page?”- Appearance — how MonstarX looks: Light, Dark or System (follows your computer). This is kept by the browser you are using, so each computer can have its own.
- Language — English or 日本語 (Japanese). Your account keeps this one, so every computer you sign in on uses it. See Language.
- Account details — your name, picture and primary email at a glance. Choose Manage account to edit them or manage sign-in and devices.
Manage account opens a secure dialog from MonstarX’s sign-in provider. MonstarX itself never stores your password or your two-step codes.
How do I change my name or picture?
Section titled “How do I change my name or picture?”-
Open SettingsProfile.
-
Choose Manage account, then update your profile.
-
Change your name, or upload a new picture, and save.
Your name and picture show in the top bar, in the menu under your name, and to people you share projects with.
How do I change my email address?
Section titled “How do I change my email address?”-
Open SettingsProfile.
-
Choose Manage account, then add the new address under email addresses.
-
Confirm it’s yours with the verification email sent to the new address.
-
Make the new address your primary one, and remove the old one if you no longer want it.
Nothing changes until the new address is confirmed. Once it is, your Stripe receipts and invoices go to the new address too.
How do I change or reset my password?
Section titled “How do I change or reset my password?”- Signed in — open SettingsProfile, choose Manage account, then set a new password under Security.
- Forgot it — on the sign-in page, click Forgot password? and follow the email.
If you signed up with Google or GitHub, you do not need a password, but you can add one to sign in with your email too.
How do I turn on two-step verification?
Section titled “How do I turn on two-step verification?”Two-step verification asks for a code from an app on your phone as well as your password, so nobody can get in with your password alone.
-
Install an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password.
-
Open SettingsProfile, choose Manage account, and find two-step verification under Security.
-
Add an authenticator app. Scan the QR code it shows with your phone’s authenticator app.
-
Type the 6-digit code from your phone to finish.
-
Save the backup codes it gives you somewhere safe. They get you in if you lose your phone.
From then on, signing in asks for a code from the app after your password.
How do I sign in with Google or GitHub?
Section titled “How do I sign in with Google or GitHub?”On the sign-in page, choose Google or GitHub instead of typing a password. To link one to an account you already have, open SettingsProfile, choose Manage account, and connect it under connected accounts. You can remove a connected account there too.
Connecting GitHub to sign in is different from connecting it to save your code. To save apps to GitHub, see GitHub.
How do I sign out of other devices?
Section titled “How do I sign out of other devices?”Choose Manage account, then Security to see every device you are signed in on — the browser, the device and roughly where and when it was last used. Sign out of any device you do not recognise.
To sign out on the device you are using, open the menu under your name and click Sign out. Signing out also turns off MonstarX’s notifications on that browser, so a shared computer stops showing your projects.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Your sign-in provider sends its own emails when something about signing in changes — verification codes, password resets, a new device. See Emails from MonstarX.
- On a phone, the Profile page works the same; Settings’ sections become a row of tabs at the top.

Section titled “Frequently asked questions”How do I switch to dark mode?
