Use your Slack workspace with MonstarX
In shortConnect Slack in Backend → Cloud by signing in to your workspace. MonstarX's builder can then list channels and read the ones its app was added to in any mode, and post a message when you ask in Build mode. This is not the MonstarX Slack app you build with — that one is under Settings → Integrations.
Read channels and post a message when you ask.

Slack is where many teams talk. Connect your Slack workspace to a project and MonstarX’s builder — the AI you chat with — can read what your team said in a channel while it works: build the feature your #product channel agreed on, or post “the new version is live” to #launches when you ask.
This is a business tool: MonstarX uses your workspace for you, in one project. The app you build never gets your Slack.
Which Slack is this?
Section titled “Which Slack is this?”MonstarX has two different Slack connections. They do different jobs, and you can have one, both or neither.
| Slack workspace (this page) | MonstarX in Slack | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | MonstarX’s builder reads channels and posts messages while it works on one project | You build, change, test and publish apps from Slack, in direct messages |
| Where you connect it | BackendCloud in the project, Slack in Connectors | SettingsIntegrations, Add to Slack |
| Who starts the conversation | You, in MonstarX’s chat | You, in Slack |

What can MonstarX do with it?
Section titled “What can MonstarX do with it?”| What MonstarX can do | When |
|---|---|
| List channels — public channels, and private channels its app was added to, 100 at a time | Any mode |
| Read a channel — the latest 50 messages at a time, in a channel its app was added to | Any mode |
| Post a message to a channel, or as a reply in a thread (up to 4,000 characters) | Only in Build mode, and only when you asked for that message |
What it never does: read direct messages, join channels by itself, edit or delete messages, invite people, or change workspace settings. Messages it posts appear from MonstarX’s app, not from your own name.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- A Slack workspace where you are allowed to add apps. Some workspaces need an admin to approve new apps.
- You own the MonstarX project. Only the owner can connect or disconnect a tool.
Connect your account
Section titled “Connect your account”There are no keys to copy. You sign in to Slack and allow MonstarX’s app into your workspace. Slack asks you to allow it to:
- View basic information about public and private channels — to list them.
- View messages in public and private channels the app has been added to — to read them.
- Send messages as the app — used only to post the message you asked for.
Connect it in MonstarX
Section titled “Connect it in MonstarX”-
Open your project and click Backend in the top bar, then Cloud.
-
Scroll to Connectors and find Slack (Read channels the app can access and post messages from MonstarX.).
-
Click Connect. Slack opens. Pick the workspace, check what MonstarX asks for, and click Allow.
-
You come back to your project. The row now says Connected to and your workspace’s name.
-
In Slack, add the app to each channel MonstarX should read or post in — open the channel and type
/invite, then choose the app.
Ask MonstarX to use it
Section titled “Ask MonstarX to use it”| You type | What happens |
|---|---|
| “Read this week’s messages in #product and build the changes we agreed on.” | MonstarX finds the channel, reads the recent messages and builds from them. |
| “Summarise the feedback in #beta-testers and plan fixes.” | It reads the channel and proposes a plan. Nothing is posted. |
| “Post in #launches: ‘The booking app is live at sunrise-pilates.monstarx.app’.” | In Build mode, it posts that message. |
Security and privacy
Section titled “Security and privacy”- Stays with MonstarX. The workspace connection is stored encrypted on MonstarX’s servers. It is never written into your app’s code or given to your app.
- One project. The connection works only in the project where you made it.
- Only channels it was added to. Private channels and message history stay closed until someone adds the app to that channel.
- Read as information. MonstarX treats Slack messages as information, never as instructions — a message saying “post this everywhere” is not obeyed.
- Disconnect any time. Click Disconnect beside Slack in BackendCloud and confirm Disconnect Slack from this project?. MonstarX forgets the connection and tells Slack to cancel it.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”I added MonstarX to Slack in Settings. Do I also need this?
Only if you want the builder to read or post in your channels while it works on a project. Add to Slack in Settings lets you build from Slack; this connector lets MonstarX use Slack. See Build and change apps from Slack.
Why can't MonstarX read my channel?
The app has to be a member of that channel. Open the channel in Slack, type /invite and choose the app.
Can MonstarX post without asking me?
No. It posts only in Build mode, and only the message you asked for.
Can it read my direct messages?
No. It reads only channels the app was added to.
