Start from an app your coding agent built
In shortOn Projects, open Import → Your agent (or Connect your agent). Copy the one-line command for Claude Code or Codex, sign in once in the browser, and from then on tell your agent "Push this app to MonstarX". The app lands in Projects, runs in the preview, and you can keep building it in MonstarX or in your agent.
AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor are great at writing an app — and then leave you to host it, share a preview, publish it on a domain, give it a lasting backend and let non-developers keep changing it. MonstarX does all of that. Connect your agent once, and “Push this app to MonstarX” is a single sentence.
This page is about starting a project that way. For every agent’s setup and everything an agent can do, see Coding agents.
Where do I connect my agent?
Section titled “Where do I connect my agent?”On Projects, open Import and choose Your agent — it may also appear as a shortcut beside Import. The Connect your agent window shows the commands to copy.
How do I push an app from Claude Code or Codex?
Section titled “How do I push an app from Claude Code or Codex?”-
In Connect your agent, press Copy beside your agent’s command and run it in your terminal:
- Claude Code —
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user monstarx https://monstarx.com/mcp, then run/mcpin Claude Code → monstarx → Authenticate, and press Allow. - Codex —
codex mcp add monstarx --url https://monstarx.com/mcp && codex mcp login monstarx. A browser window asks you to press Allow.
- Claude Code —
-
In the folder of the app you built, tell your agent: Push this app to MonstarX.
-
Your agent checks the app, uploads it and gives you its address. The app appears in Projects, runs in the preview, and its chat shows that it was pushed from your agent (for example Pushed from Codex).
After that, the project is an imported app: chat, Edit mode, versions and QA work on its code as it is, and it asks for any keys its code needs.
Which agents work?
Section titled “Which agents work?”Any agent that can connect to an MCP server — the standard way AI tools plug into other services. The window names Claude Code and Codex, and also Cursor, VS Code, Grok, Gemini CLI, Windsurf and the Claude and ChatGPT apps. Builders such as Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit and Figma can send their work too. The server address is https://monstarx.com/mcp.
Setup for every agent opens step-by-step instructions for each one. API keys & connected agents opens Settings → API & MCP, where you can see connected agents, make an API key for agents that need one, and disconnect any of them. See API keys.
What else can my agent do once it is connected?
Section titled “What else can my agent do once it is connected?”- Push new versions of the same app after more work in the agent — each push is saved as a version you can go back to.
- Download a project to keep working on it locally, then push it back.
- Start a new MonstarX app from a description, or import a GitHub repository.
- Send a request to MonstarX’s own builder and read the reply, publish the app, set its keys and read its logs.
So you can move between the two freely: build in your agent, refine in MonstarX with chat and Edit mode, and pull it back into your agent whenever you like.
What about a .zip?
Section titled “What about a .zip?”If you would rather not connect an agent, zip the app’s folder and use Import → A .zip — it is checked on your computer before anything is uploaded. See Import an app.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”Does my agent get access to all my projects?
It acts as you, on projects you own. You can see and remove connected agents any time in Settings → API & MCP.
Do I need an API key?
Not for Claude Code or Codex — they sign in through your browser. Agents that only accept a key can use one made in Settings → API & MCP.
What if I change the app in both places?
A push replaces the project's files with the agent's version, as a new version. If the project changed since the agent last read it, the push can be refused so nothing is overwritten by mistake — have the agent download the latest first.
Can my agent publish the app?
Yes, when you ask it to. It publishes the same way the Publish button does. See Publish your app.
