Use live country data in your app

In shortMonstarX hosts live public data for Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates and the Philippines. Ask for a feature that needs it and MonstarX shows a card to enable that country in one click, then builds with the real data. You can also enable a country yourself in Backend → Country data. No account, no API key.

Many apps are about a place: a car park finder for Singapore, an earthquake tracker for Japan, a holiday planner for Malaysia. The information they need — the weather, bus arrivals, free parking lots, earthquakes, public holidays, company registrations — is published by each country’s government as open data.

MonstarX hosts that data for you as country data. Your app can show it live, with no account to open, no API key to find and no code to write for each government website.

CountryExamples of what your app can show
SingaporeWeather, rain and air quality, car park availability, bus arrivals, train alerts, taxis, HDB resale prices, companies by UEN, addresses
JapanWeather and warnings, earthquakes and tsunamis, postal codes, public holidays, evacuation shelters, tourist spots
MalaysiaWeather and flood warnings, fuel prices, exchange and interest rates, public holidays, postal codes
IndiaWeather, mandi (market) prices, hospitals, bank IFSC codes, public holidays, cricket, tourism, state data
IndonesiaWeather, earthquakes, KRL train schedules, regions down to villages, prayer times, gold prices, news
United Arab EmiratesWeather, prayer times, fuel prices, exchange rates, public holidays, open data from Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Thailand and Vietnam are coming soon.

Ask for the feature in the chat, as you would for anything else. When the request needs a country’s data — “a car park finder for Singapore with live free lots”, “show Tokyo’s earthquakes on the home page” — MonstarX asks to use it:

  1. MonstarX writes the plan for your request and shows a card: Use live Japan data?, with what the data is for in your app.

  2. Click Enable Japan data. There is nothing to paste or sign up for.

  3. MonstarX carries on building by itself. It looks at the real data first, then builds your pages around it, so what you see in the preview is live.

If you click Not now, MonstarX builds the feature with sample data instead and does not ask again. You can enable the country later.

Open your project, click Backend in the top bar, then Country data.

  • Enable switches a country on for this project. Turn off switches it off again; your app’s calls to it stop working until you enable it again.
  • The number of data tools is what that country’s data offers. Click the arrow to see every tool, grouped by kind — weather, transport, places and maps and so on. Countries with many tools have a box to filter them.
  • Playground opens a page where you can try each tool on live data yourself.
  • At the top, you see how many times your app used country data in the last 24 hours. At the bottom, its latest calls and whether they worked.
  • Live and free to use. The data comes straight from each country’s public sources, such as data.gov.sg. It costs no credits to enable a country.
  • 5,000 calls a day per app. That is plenty for a busy app; MonstarX reads the data when a page opens or when someone presses refresh.
  • The source is shown. Open data licences ask apps to name where the data comes from, so MonstarX shows it near the data (for example “data.gov.sg”).
  • Works in the preview and when published. The app uses the same live data everywhere, with no key in its code.
  • One project at a time. A country is enabled for the project you enable it in, and only the project’s owner can enable it.
  • Not for imported apps. Apps you imported keep their own code and cannot use country data.
Do I need an account or an API key for this data?

No. MonstarX hosts the data and handles the connections. Enable the country and your app can use it.

MonstarX did not ask me to enable a country. What do I do?

Enable it yourself in Backend → Country data, then ask in the chat: "use the live Singapore car park data".

What happens if I choose Not now?

MonstarX builds the feature with sample data and stops asking. Enable the country in Backend → Country data whenever you are ready, then ask MonstarX to switch the feature to live data.

Is this the same as MCP connectors?

No. Country data is hosted by MonstarX and used by your app. MCP connectors are tool servers you add yourself for MonstarX's builder to use.

My country is not in the list. Can I still use its data?

Yes, like any other outside service: ask MonstarX to use it and add any key it needs in Backend → Secrets. Thailand and Vietnam are coming to country data soon.
