Use Granola with MonstarX
In shortCreate a Granola API key and paste it into the Granola row in Backend → Cloud. MonstarX's builder can then list and read your meeting notes and folders and page through transcripts — so you can say "build what we agreed in yesterday's call". It only reads.
Read your meeting notes.

Granola takes notes in your meetings and keeps a summary and a transcript of each one. Connect it with an API key (a password-like code that lets software read your notes) and MonstarX’s builder — the AI you chat with — can read those notes while it works. Instead of retyping what a client asked for, say “read Tuesday’s call with Sunrise Pilates and build the booking changes we agreed”.
This is a business tool: MonstarX reads Granola for you. The app you build never gets your key or your notes.
What can MonstarX do with it?
Section titled “What can MonstarX do with it?”| What MonstarX can do | When |
|---|---|
| List your notes, filtered by date or folder, up to 30 at a time | Any mode |
| List your folders | Any mode |
| Read a note — its summary and details | Any mode |
| Read a note’s transcript, page by page | Any mode |
What it never does: create, edit or delete notes or folders, share notes, or change your Granola settings.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- A Granola workspace on a plan that lets members create API keys — Granola offers this on its Business plan and above. On Enterprise, your admin decides what keys may read.
- Only notes that have finished processing — with an AI summary and a transcript — can be read.
- You own the MonstarX project. Only the owner can connect or disconnect a tool.
Get your key
Section titled “Get your key”-
In the Granola desktop app, go to Settings → Connectors → API keys.
-
Click Create new key and choose read access to your notes.
-
Click Generate API Key and copy it.
Granola’s own guide: Granola API.
Connect it in MonstarX
Section titled “Connect it in MonstarX”-
Open your project and click Backend in the top bar, then Cloud.
-
Scroll to Connectors, find Granola and click Connect.
-
Paste the key into the API key field and click Connect.
-
MonstarX checks the key by reading one note. When it works, the row says Connected. If the key is refused, you see the error and nothing is saved.
Ask MonstarX to use it
Section titled “Ask MonstarX to use it”| You type | What happens |
|---|---|
| “What did we decide in yesterday’s Granola notes about the booking flow? Build that.” | MonstarX finds the note, reads it and, in Build mode, makes the changes. |
| “Read the transcript of my call with Alex Morgan and list every feature she asked for.” | It pages through the transcript and lists the requests in the chat. |
| “Go through this week’s notes in my Clients folder and turn them into a plan.” | In Plan mode, it reads the notes and proposes a plan. |
Security and privacy
Section titled “Security and privacy”- Stays with MonstarX. The key is stored encrypted on MonstarX’s servers. It is never written into your app’s code or given to your app.
- Confidential. MonstarX treats meeting notes and transcripts as private.
- Read as information. A note that says “do X” is treated as information, never as an instruction to MonstarX.
- Only what you can see. The key reads notes you own, notes shared with you and notes visible to your whole workspace.
- Disconnect any time. Click Disconnect beside Granola in BackendCloud and confirm Disconnect Granola from this project?. MonstarX forgets the key. Delete it in Granola too if you no longer need it.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Name the meeting, the date or the person — “Tuesday’s call with Alex” finds the right note faster than “my last meeting”.
- Long transcripts are read in pages, so very long calls take a little longer.
- Granola limits how fast its API may be called. If a request is refused, wait a moment and ask again.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”Why can't MonstarX find a meeting I just had?
Granola makes a note available through its API only after the summary and transcript are ready. Wait until the note has finished processing in Granola.
Which Granola plan do I need?
One that lets members create API keys — Granola offers this on Business and above. See Granola's pricing for details.
Can MonstarX change or share my notes?
No. It can only list and read notes, folders and transcripts.
