MonstarX Cloud — the backend every app gets

In shortMonstarX Cloud is the backend built into every app you make — a database, sign-up and sign-in, email, file storage, AI, web search, maps and a safe place for keys. It is on from the first build and costs no setup. You see and manage it in the Backend tab, and you can switch off Email, AI, Web Search or Storage to use your own provider instead.

An app is more than its pages. It has to remember things, let people sign in, send emails and keep the photos people upload. That hidden part is called the backend. In MonstarX you do not build or rent a backend: every app gets one, called MonstarX Cloud, from its first build.

You describe what you want (“people can sign up and post recipes with a photo”), and MonstarX uses the right parts of MonstarX Cloud for you. There are no servers to set up, no accounts to open and no keys to paste.

On top of these, your app’s data can be read and written from other software through a REST API, and connectors plug in outside services like Stripe or Twilio.

Open your project and click Backend in the top bar. Everything about your app’s backend lives there, in sections along the top.

SectionWhat you find there
CloudThe MonstarX Cloud services with their on/off switches, where your app keeps its data, and the list of connectors.
DatabaseEvery table with its number of rows, the migrations, and a box to run read-only SQL.
UsersEveryone who has signed up in your app, with Ban and delete.
FilesEvery file your app has stored, with preview, download and delete.
EmailsEvery email your app has sent, and how many it may still send this hour and today.
AIEvery AI call your app has made, and how much of today’s allowance is left.
Country dataThe countries whose live public data your app may use, their tools, and your app’s latest calls.
SecretsThe keys and settings your app reads, stored encrypted.
LocalizationYour app’s translations. This section only appears once your app has more than one language.

On a phone, Backend is one of the views you switch between at the top of the workspace.

Can I switch a service off and use my own?

Section titled “Can I switch a service off and use my own?”

Yes, for Email, AI, Web Search and Storage. Database and Auth are marked core: every app needs them, so they cannot be switched off.

  1. Connect your own provider under Connectors — for example Resend for email or OpenAI for AI — and ask MonstarX to use it. See Connectors.

  2. Open BackendCloud and click the switch on the service you want to turn off.

  3. Confirm. MonstarX asks first, because the app then needs its own provider for that job.

A service you switch off disappears from your app straight away: its code can no longer reach it, and MonstarX’s builder stops using it in new work. Click the switch again to turn it back on.

Yes. Under BackendCloud, Where this app keeps its data shows MonstarX Database by default. You can move an app’s data into your own Supabase or Railway Postgres database, or keep its records in your own Firebase project. MonstarX copies the data across and rewrites the app for you. See Supabase, Railway and Firebase.

You can also run the whole app, database included, on your own Cloudflare account.

An app you imported brings its own backend. MonstarX made it no database and keeps no accounts for it, so Database and Users say so. Its keys still go under Secrets.

Do I have to set anything up to get a database or sign-in?

No. Every app has MonstarX Cloud from its first build. Ask for the feature — "people can sign up", "save the orders" — and MonstarX uses the right service.

Does MonstarX Cloud cost extra?

There is no separate bill or setup for it. The AI your app uses counts toward your plan's usage, like your own building does. See AI in your app and Usage and limits.

Can the people I share my project with see my data?

No. People you share a project with never see the Backend tab, so they cannot see your data, your users, your emails or your secrets.

Can I turn off the database?

No. Database and Auth are core services. You can move the data to your own Supabase, Railway or Firebase instead — see Your app's database.

Where do I connect Stripe or another outside service?

Under Connectors in Backend → Cloud, or straight from the card MonstarX shows in the chat when a feature needs one. See Connectors.
