Use Apollo.io with MonstarX

In shortPaste an Apollo API key into the Apollo.io row in Backend → Cloud. MonstarX's builder can then search your saved contacts and accounts and look up people in Apollo's database, for example to shape a CRM page around your real data. It only searches — it never changes Apollo or reveals emails and phone numbers.

Find people and companies for sales research.

Apollo.io is a sales platform with a large database of people and companies, plus the contacts and accounts your team has saved. Connect it with an API key (a password-like code that lets software use your account) and MonstarX’s builder — the AI you chat with — can search it while it works: see what fields your contacts really have before it builds a leads page, or pull a sample of companies in your market to plan a directory.

This is a business tool: MonstarX searches Apollo for you. The app you build never gets your key.

Results come 25 at a time (up to 100 per page). What it never does: add, change or delete contacts or accounts, enroll anyone in a sequence, send email, or reveal email addresses and phone numbers (Apollo’s people search does not return them).

  • An Apollo account whose plan includes API access. Access depends on your Apollo plan.
  • Costs. Apollo’s people search uses no credits, because it does not reveal contact details. Check Apollo’s own pages for your plan’s limits.
  • You own the MonstarX project. Only the owner can connect or disconnect a tool.
  1. In Apollo, go to Settings > Integrations > API Keys and create a new key.

  2. Choose what the key may use. Either select the search endpoints — contacts search, accounts search and People API Search — or make it a master key, which can use every endpoint.

  3. Copy the key.

Apollo’s own guide: Create API keys.

  1. Open your project and click Backend in the top bar, then Cloud.

  2. Scroll to Connectors, find Apollo.io and click Connect.

  3. Paste the key into the API key field and click Connect.

  4. MonstarX checks the key with Apollo. When it works, the row says Connected. If the key is refused, you see the error and nothing is saved.

You typeWhat happens
“Search my Apollo contacts for ‘clinic’ and design a leads table with the fields they have.”MonstarX searches your contacts, looks at the fields and, in Build mode, builds the table.
“Find 20 people in Apollo with ‘pilates studio owner’ in their profile, and summarise their job titles.”It searches Apollo’s database and sums up the titles in the chat.
“Which of my saved Apollo accounts are in healthcare?”It searches your accounts and lists the matches.
  • Stays with MonstarX. The key is stored encrypted on MonstarX’s servers. It is never written into your app’s code or given to your app.
  • Read-only. MonstarX only searches. A key limited to the three search endpoints cannot do anything else in Apollo.
  • Read as information. What MonstarX reads in Apollo is treated as information, never as instructions.
  • Disconnect any time. Click Disconnect beside Apollo.io in BackendCloud and confirm Disconnect Apollo.io from this project?. MonstarX forgets the key. Delete it in Apollo too if you no longer need it.
  • Searches take plain keywords, up to 500 characters. Detailed filters (title, location, company size) are not available through this connection.
  • Up to 1,000 pages of results per search.
  • The contacts and accounts you see are the ones your Apollo user can see.
Can MonstarX get someone's email address from Apollo?

No. Apollo's people search does not return email addresses or phone numbers, and MonstarX does not use Apollo's enrichment, which would spend credits.

Does searching use my Apollo credits?

Apollo's people search uses no credits. Searching your own contacts and accounts reads data you already have.

Can MonstarX add people to my Apollo sequences?

No. The connection is search-only.

Can my app search Apollo for its users?

Not with this connection: the key is for MonstarX's builder only. For an app feature, add an Apollo key under Backend → Secrets and ask MonstarX to build it. See Store API keys safely.
