Usage and limits
In shortEvery request uses credits, which count toward two limits at once — a 5-hour session and the week (Monday to Monday, UTC). Premium models also draw on a weekly premium allowance. There is no daily or monthly limit. The ring beside the prompt box shows how much you have used, and Settings → Usage shows where every credit went.
Everything MonstarX’s AI does for you — building, answering in Chat, planning, testing your app — takes some AI work. MonstarX measures that work in credits and counts it against your plan’s limits. The limits reset on a schedule, so you never run out for good.
What is a credit?
Section titled “What is a credit?”A credit is a measure of AI work: one credit is one cent of usage. Bigger requests and more capable models use more:
- A quick question or small change uses a few credits.
- Building a whole feature or app uses a few dozen.
- Premium models (Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Fable 5, GPT Astra) use many more for the same job.
- A higher effort level (beside the model picker) makes the model think longer, so it uses more credits.
Credits are counted from what the model actually did, response by response — not a fixed price per message.
What are the limits?
Section titled “What are the limits?”Every request counts toward two limits at the same time:
| Limit | How long | When it resets |
|---|---|---|
| 5-hour limit | A 5-hour session | 5 hours after the session’s first request. The next session starts with your next request after that. |
| Weekly · all models | One week | Every Monday at 00:00 UTC |
| Weekly · premium models | One week | Every Monday at 00:00 UTC, together with the weekly limit |
The premium allowance only counts premium models, and they count toward the other two limits as well. There is no daily or monthly limit. When a new Monday comes, your weekly allowance is back in full, whatever your billing date. (Using a Boost moves your weekly reset to 7 days after the Boost.)
How big each limit is depends on your plan:
| Plan | 5-hour limit | Weekly limit | Weekly premium allowance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 300 credits | 375 credits | None |
| Plus | 450 credits | 900 credits | 225 credits |
| Pro | 2,250 credits | 4,500 credits | 4,500 credits (all usage) |
| Ultra | 4,500 credits | 9,000 credits | 9,000 credits (all usage) |
Where do I see how much I have used?
Section titled “Where do I see how much I have used?”The ring beside the prompt box
Section titled “The ring beside the prompt box”In every project, a small ring and a percentage sit beside Send. They show the limit you are closest to using up. The ring fills as you use more and turns red when a limit is used up.
Click the ring to see every limit, each with its own bar and when it resets:
From here you can use a Boost, open See detailed breakdown (Settings → Usage), or click Upgrade for a bigger plan (on every plan below Ultra). When a limit is used up, the panel also says which one and when it resets. Reset times are shown in your own time zone.
Settings → Usage
Section titled “Settings → Usage”SettingsUsage has the full picture. At the top, Your limits shows the same bars as the ring, with your Boosts beside them.
Where did my credits go?
Section titled “Where did my credits go?”Under the limits, Last 30 days breaks your usage down:
- The chart — credits used each day, with the premium share in a lighter colour. Hover over (or tap) a day to see its credits and number of requests.
- By model — which models used your credits, with the tokens they read and wrote.
- By kind — what the work was: Build, Chat, Plan, QA agent, QA browser run, Security scan (AI review), SEO/GEO check-up (AI review), Your apps’ AI, Reading documents, Auto Enhance with AI, Photos drawn for your apps, Live status while it thinks and more.
- By app — which of your projects used them. Not in an app is work outside a project, such as Auto Enhance on the Projects page.
Recent activity lists the last 25 model responses charged to you: when, which app, what kind of work, which model and effort level, the tokens in and out, and the credits.
How do I download my usage?
Section titled “How do I download my usage?”-
Open SettingsUsage.
-
Click Download 90 days (CSV) under Last 30 days.
You get a spreadsheet file with one row per model response. Its columns are When (UTC), Project, Kind, Model, Effort, Premium, Input tokens, Output tokens, Cached input tokens and Credits. Open it in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
What happens when I hit a limit?
Section titled “What happens when I hit a limit?”Nothing you built is lost. What happens depends on when the limit runs out:
- While MonstarX is working — it finishes the step it is on and stops the request cleanly. The reply ends with your limit, when it resets, and This request stopped here — ask MonstarX to continue once there is room again. Everything done so far is saved.
- When you send a new request — it does not start. You see which limit is used up and when it resets, for example: You’ve used your 5-hour limit on the Plus plan. It resets in 2 hr 10 min. Upgrade your plan for more usage. A See plans link opens the plans.
- Premium allowance used up — you can keep building: pick a model from Lower cost or Standard in the model picker until the allowance resets.
- Automated QA — a QA run you start is refused while you have no room, and automatic runs are skipped.
Then you can:
- Wait for the reset. The ring’s panel shows exactly when.
- Use a Boost to reset every limit now (Plus and Pro). See Boosts.
- Upgrade for bigger limits straight away. See Plans and pricing.
When there is room again, ask MonstarX to carry on — for example “Continue where you stopped” — and it picks up the work.
Whose usage does a project use?
Section titled “Whose usage does a project use?”The project owner’s, whoever sends the request:
- Can edit — if someone shares a project with you as an editor, the requests you send there use the owner’s plan, not yours.
- Can view & comment — you cannot send requests, so nothing you do there uses credits.
- Handed over to you — once a project is transferred to you, building it counts against your plan.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- One request can go over a limit by at most one model response, because MonstarX stops after the response that fills it.
- If two of your projects build at the same time, they share the same limits.
- Asking Luna for help is included and does not use your plan’s credits.
- Unused usage does not roll over.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”When does my usage reset?
The 5-hour limit resets 5 hours after the first request of a session. The weekly limits reset every Monday at 00:00 UTC. The ring beside the prompt box and Settings → Usage show the exact time in your time zone.
Is there a daily or monthly limit?
No. Only the 5-hour limit, the weekly limit and, for premium models, the weekly premium allowance.
Why did one request use so many credits?
Large builds read a lot of your app's code and write a lot of new code. Premium models and higher effort levels also cost more. Settings → Usage → Recent activity shows the model, effort, tokens and credits of every response.
Do my published apps use my credits?
Only when they use AI — for example, an app that writes text or answers questions with AI. That work is listed as Your apps' AI. Visitors using your app's database, sign-in, email and storage do not use credits.
Does a stopped or failed build still use credits?
Yes, for the AI work it did before it stopped. The work is saved, so continuing does not redo it.
How do I see which project used the most?
Open Settings → Usage and look at By app under Last 30 days.
