Connect Resend to your MonstarX app

In shortResend sends email from a domain you own. Verify your domain in Resend, paste an API key and a From address into Backend → Cloud, then ask MonstarX to send the app's emails through Resend. It replaces the built-in MonstarX Email, which you can switch off once nothing uses it.

Resend is an email-sending service. Every MonstarX app can already send email from its own address on monstarx.app — see Send email from your app. Connect Resend when you want the emails to come from your own domain, like Brew & Bean <hello@brewandbean.com>, or to send more than the built-in limits allow.

  • Booking confirmations and receipts from your business’s own address.
  • Welcome emails and password resets that match your brand.
  • Notifications to your team, like “New order #1042”, from orders@yourdomain.com.
  • More email than the built-in service allows, within your Resend plan.

What changes when I use Resend instead of MonstarX Email?

Section titled “What changes when I use Resend instead of MonstarX Email?”

Resend replaces MonstarX Email — the Backend list marks it that way. Connecting it adds the keys; your app switches over when you ask it to:

Once your emails go through Resend, they no longer appear in Backend → Emails and do not count toward the built-in limits.

  • A Resend account. Resend has a free plan; see Resend’s pricing for the limits.
  • A domain you own, verified in Resend. Resend only sends from verified domains. Verifying means adding a few records (DNS records — settings that prove the domain is yours) where you bought the domain. For a domain bought through MonstarX, add them under PublishYour domains & DNS with DNS settings — see Changing DNS records.
  1. In Resend, open Domains, add your domain and add the records it shows at your domain provider. Wait until Resend says the domain is verified. Resend explains each step in its domain guide.

  2. Open API Keys and create a key. Sending access is enough; you can also limit it to your domain. Copy the key (it starts with re_) — Resend shows it only once.

  3. Choose your From address: a name and an address on the verified domain, like Brew & Bean <hello@brewandbean.com>.

  1. Open your project and click Backend in the top bar, then Cloud.

  2. Under Connectors, click Connect beside Resend.

  3. Paste the API key and type the From address.

  4. Click Connect Resend. The row shows Connected.

  5. Ask MonstarX in the chat: “Send all of the app’s emails through Resend, including password resets.” It rewrites every email to go through your account.

  6. Optional: once nothing uses the built-in email any more, open BackendCloud and click Turn off on Email.

You typeWhat happens
“Send all emails through Resend, including password resets.”Every email in the app goes out from your From address.
“Email a receipt from orders@brewandbean.com after each order.”A receipt from that address, if it is on your verified domain.
“Replies to booking emails should go to hello@brewandbean.com.”A reply-to address, so answers land in your inbox.
“Add a monthly newsletter page for the admin that emails all subscribers.”A page to write and send the newsletter through Resend.
  1. In BackendCloud, click Turn on on Email if you had switched it off.

  2. Ask MonstarX: “Send the app’s emails through MonstarX Email again.”

  3. Click Disconnect on the Resend row. This removes the keys from this app.

  • The API key is stored encrypted with this app and used only by its server. The From address is not secret.
  • Only the project’s owner can connect, update or disconnect Resend.
  • To replace the key, create a new one in Resend, click Update keys on the Resend row, paste it and click Save keys. Publish again so the live app uses it, then delete the old key in Resend.
  • The From address must be on a domain Resend has verified, or Resend refuses the email.
  • Newsletters and marketing emails need people’s consent and an unsubscribe link in many countries. Ask MonstarX to add one.
  • Email your app sends through Resend is not listed in Backend → Emails; check Resend’s dashboard to see what was delivered.
Do I need Resend to send email?

No. Every app can send from its own monstarx.app address with nothing to connect. Resend is for your own domain or higher volume.

Does connecting Resend change my emails straight away?

No. It adds the keys. Ask MonstarX to send the emails through Resend, and it rewrites them.

Why are my emails not in Backend → Emails any more?

Emails sent through Resend are listed in your Resend dashboard, not in MonstarX.

What happens if I turn off Email?

Anything still sending through MonstarX Email stops, password resets included. Move every email to Resend first.
