Unpublish your app or delete a project

In shortUnpublish (Publish → Unpublish, or Settings → Danger zone) takes the app offline but keeps the project, its code and its data, so you can publish again any time. Delete this project removes everything — code, chat, versions, the app's database and files, the published app and invites — and cannot be undone. Domains you bought stay yours.

There are two very different ways to stop an app. Unpublishing takes the public app offline — a pause you can undo by publishing again. Deleting removes the whole project from MonstarX, for good.

Can you undo it?Yes — publish againNo
  1. Click Published in the workspace header.

  2. Click Unpublish and confirm Take the published app offline?.

You can do the same from SettingsDanger zone: Take the app offline → Unpublish.

After unpublishing:

  • Visitors to your monstarx.app address — and to any domain you bought or connected — no longer reach the app.
  • The project, its code, its database and its files stay in MonstarX. You keep building in the preview as before.
  • To bring it back, click Publish → Publish site.

If the app runs on another host, Unpublish removes it there: the Cloud Run service on Google Cloud, or the service on Railway (its Postgres database stays). AWS and Azure have their own Stop AWS hosting and Remove Azure app buttons. See Publish to other hosts.

From inside the project:

  1. Click Settings and choose Danger zone.

  2. Read the summary under Delete this project — how many files, versions and messages it has, whether it has its own database and whether it is online right now.

  3. Type the project’s name in the box.

  4. Click Delete for ever.

Or from the Projects page: open the project’s ⋯ menu and choose Delete, then Delete project. If the app is online, you are asked to type its name too.

  • Domains you bought for the app stay registered to you. They show under Your domains not used by an app, and in Settings → Domains, ready to point at another app with Use for this app. Remember they still expire and need renewing.
  • Your own Supabase project and its data, if the app used one, stay exactly as they are.
  • A GitHub repository linked to the project stays on GitHub.
  • Your own cloud accounts: on AWS, stop AWS hosting before deleting — MonstarX refuses to delete a project while AWS hosting may still exist.
  • While MonstarX is building — the button is greyed out: MonstarX is working on this project right now. Wait for it to finish.
  • If you are not the owner — someone you share a project with cannot delete it. They can Leave project from its ⋯ menu instead. See Share a project.
Can I get a deleted project back?

No. Deleting is permanent. Export the code or link GitHub first if you might need it.

Does unpublishing delete my app's data?

No. Unpublishing only takes the public app offline. The database, files, code and chat all stay.

Do I lose my domain if I delete the project?

No. Domains you bought stay yours and can be pointed at another app. They still need renewing when they expire.

What happens to the people I shared the project with?

When you unpublish, nothing — they keep their access. When you delete the project, they lose access, and their view says *This project no longer exists.*

Can I pause an app without deleting it?

Yes — that is what Unpublish is for. Publish again whenever you are ready.
