Use Paddle with MonstarX

In shortChoose Sandbox or Live and paste a Paddle API key into the Paddle row in Backend → Cloud. MonstarX's builder can then read your Paddle products, customers, transactions and subscriptions, for example to build a pricing page that matches your catalogue. It only reads — it never changes anything in Paddle.

Look up products, customers and subscriptions.

Paddle sells software and digital products for you and handles billing, tax and subscriptions. Connect your Paddle account with an API key (a password-like code that lets software use your account) and MonstarX’s builder — the AI you chat with — can read your catalogue and billing data while it works: build a pricing page from your real products, or summarise which plans your subscribers are on.

This is a business tool: MonstarX reads Paddle for you. The app you build never gets your key. To take payments in your app, see Stripe.

What MonstarX can doWhen
List your productsAny mode
List your customersAny mode
List your transactionsAny mode
List your subscriptionsAny mode

Each list comes 20 at a time (up to 30), and MonstarX can page through for more. What it never does: create, change or cancel anything — products, prices, customers, transactions, subscriptions or refunds.

  • A Paddle account. A sandbox account holds test data; your live account holds real data. They are separate accounts with separate keys.
  • You own the MonstarX project. Only the owner can connect or disconnect a tool.
  1. In Paddle (sandbox or live, whichever you want to connect), go to Developer Tools > Authentication and open the API keys tab.

  2. Click New API key and give it a name such as MonstarX.

  3. Give it these read permissions: product.read, customer.read, transaction.read and subscription.read. MonstarX needs nothing more, and never uses write permissions.

  4. Set an expiry date (Paddle’s default is 90 days), save, and copy the key. It starts with pdl_sdbx_apikey_ for sandbox or pdl_live_apikey_ for live.

Paddle’s own guide: Create and manage API keys.

  1. Open your project and click Backend in the top bar, then Cloud.

  2. Scroll to Connectors, find Paddle and click Connect.

  3. Choose Sandbox or Live to match your key, paste it into the key field and click Connect.

  4. MonstarX checks the key with Paddle. When it works, the row says Connected to Sandbox or Connected to Live. If the key and the environment do not match, Paddle refuses it and nothing is saved.

You typeWhat happens
“Read my Paddle products and build a pricing page with those plans and names.”MonstarX lists your products and, in Build mode, builds the page from them.
“How many active subscriptions do I have in Paddle, and on which plans?”It pages through your subscriptions and sums them up in the chat.
“Look at my last 20 Paddle transactions and tell me which product sells best.”It reads the transactions and answers.
  • Stays with MonstarX. The key is stored encrypted on MonstarX’s servers. It is never written into your app’s code or given to your app.
  • Read-only. MonstarX asks Paddle only for lists. Give the key read permissions only, and even a leaked key cannot change your billing.
  • Confidential data. Customer and billing details are treated as private and as information, never as instructions.
  • Disconnect any time. Click Disconnect beside Paddle in BackendCloud and confirm Disconnect Paddle from this project?. MonstarX forgets the key. Revoke it in Paddle too if you no longer need it.
  • Start with Sandbox while you build, then switch: disconnect and connect again with a live key.
  • When the key expires in Paddle, MonstarX’s requests fail. Create a new key and connect again.
  • One Paddle account per project at a time.
Can my app take payments through Paddle with this?

No. This connection lets MonstarX's builder read your Paddle data. For payments in your app, MonstarX has a Stripe connector. For another provider, add its keys under Backend → Secrets and ask MonstarX to build it.

Which permissions does the key need?

product.read, customer.read, transaction.read and subscription.read. Leave out anything you do not want MonstarX to read — those lists will just fail.

Can MonstarX refund or cancel a subscription?

No. It can only list products, customers, transactions and subscriptions.

Why was my key refused?

Usually the key is for the other environment: a pdl_sdbx_ key needs Sandbox, a pdl_live_ key needs Live. An expired or revoked key is refused too.
