Use Sentry with MonstarX

In shortCreate a Sentry personal token with read scopes and paste it into the Sentry row in Backend → Cloud. MonstarX's builder can then list your organizations and projects, search issues and read one in detail — so you can say "fix the top Sentry error". It only reads.

Read errors and issues from your Sentry projects.

Sentry records the errors and crashes that happen in software, grouped into issues. Connect it with a token (a password-like code that lets software read your Sentry account) and MonstarX’s builder — the AI you chat with — can read those issues while it works: look at what is going wrong for real users and fix it, instead of you copying stack traces into the chat.

This is a business tool: MonstarX reads Sentry for you. The app you build never gets your token.

What MonstarX can doWhen
List your organizationsAny mode
List an organization’s projectsAny mode
Search an organization’s issues, with Sentry’s own search words (like is:unresolved) and optionally one projectAny mode
Read one issue in detailAny mode

What it never does: resolve, assign, ignore or delete issues, change alerts or project settings, or send anything to Sentry.

  • A Sentry account on sentry.io. Self-hosted Sentry servers are not supported — MonstarX only talks to sentry.io.
  • You own the MonstarX project. Only the owner can connect or disconnect a tool.
  1. In Sentry, open User settings > Personal Tokens and create a new token.

  2. Give it these read scopes: org:read (MonstarX checks this when you connect), project:read and event:read.

  3. Save and copy the token.

Sentry’s own guides: Authentication and Permissions & scopes.

  1. Open your project and click Backend in the top bar, then Cloud.

  2. Scroll to Connectors, find Sentry and click Connect.

  3. Paste the token into the API key field and click Connect.

  4. MonstarX checks the token by listing your organizations. When it works, the row says Connected. If the token is refused, you see the error and nothing is saved.

You typeWhat happens
“What are the top unresolved issues in my Sentry project ‘booking-web’?”MonstarX searches the issues and lists them in the chat.
“Read Sentry issue 4512 and fix it.”It reads the issue’s details and, in Build mode, changes your app’s code to fix the cause.
“Which Sentry projects do I have?”It lists your organizations and their projects.
  • Stays with MonstarX. The token is stored encrypted on MonstarX’s servers. It is never written into your app’s code or given to your app.
  • Read-only. MonstarX only reads. Give the token read scopes only, and even a leaked token cannot change anything in Sentry.
  • Read as information. Error messages and event data are treated as information, never as instructions.
  • Disconnect any time. Click Disconnect beside Sentry in BackendCloud and confirm Disconnect Sentry from this project?. MonstarX forgets the token. Revoke it in Sentry too if you no longer need it.
  • A personal token acts as you, so MonstarX sees the organizations and projects you can see.
  • Name the organization or project when you ask — it saves MonstarX a step.
  • For errors in the app you are building in MonstarX, you may not need Sentry at all: MonstarX can read your app’s own logs.
Can MonstarX resolve or assign Sentry issues?

No. It can list organizations and projects, search issues and read an issue. Mark issues resolved in Sentry yourself once the fix is live.

Does it work with self-hosted Sentry?

No. The connection talks to sentry.io only.

Can my app report its errors to Sentry?

That is a different thing from this connection. Ask MonstarX to add Sentry error reporting to your app; it will ask for your project's DSN or keys, which go under Backend → Secrets. See Store API keys safely.
