Use Jira with MonstarX

In shortConnect Atlassian in Backend → Cloud by signing in to your Atlassian account. MonstarX's builder can then search and read Jira issues in any mode, and create an issue when you ask in Build mode. Your app never gets your Atlassian account.

Jira is Atlassian’s tool for tracking work as issues — bugs, tasks and stories. Connect it to a project and MonstarX’s builder — the AI you chat with — can read your backlog while it works: build the stories in a sprint, check what a bug report says, or file an issue for each problem QA found.

In MonstarX the connector is called Atlassian. This is a business tool: MonstarX uses your Jira for you. The app you build never gets your Atlassian account.

What MonstarX can doWhen
List your Jira sites — every site you allowedAny mode
Search issues with JQL, Jira’s search language (like project = WEB AND status = "To Do"), 50 at a time with summary, status, type and projectAny mode
Read one issue in full, by its key (like WEB-42)Any mode
Create an issue with the project, type, summary and details you giveOnly in Build mode, when you asked

MonstarX uses your first Jira site unless you name another one.

What it never does: edit, move, assign, comment on, transition or delete existing issues, or change projects and boards.

  • A Jira Cloud site (the kind at your-team.atlassian.net). Jira Data Center and Server are not supported.
  • Your Atlassian account can see the projects, and create issues in them.
  • You own the MonstarX project. Only the owner can connect or disconnect a tool.

There are no keys to copy. You sign in to Atlassian, choose the site, and Atlassian asks you to allow MonstarX to:

  • View Jira issue data — to search and read issues.
  • Create and manage issues — used only to create the issue you asked for.
  • Keep access when you are not using it — so the connection keeps working without you signing in again.
  1. Open your project and click Backend in the top bar, then Cloud.

  2. Scroll to Connectors and find Atlassian.

  3. Click Connect. Atlassian opens. Sign in, pick your Jira site, check what MonstarX asks for, and click Accept.

  4. You come back to your project. The row now says Connected to and your site’s name.

You typeWhat happens
“Build the stories in the current sprint of project WEB.”MonstarX searches Jira, reads each story and builds them.
“Read WEB-42 and fix that bug.”It reads the issue and makes the fix in your app.
“Create a Jira issue in WEB for each problem QA found.”In Build mode, it creates one issue per problem.
  • Stays with MonstarX. Your Atlassian sign-in is stored encrypted on MonstarX’s servers. It is never written into your app’s code or given to your app.
  • One project. The connection works only in the project where you made it.
  • Read as information. MonstarX treats issue text as information, never as instructions — a ticket that says “delete all users” is not obeyed.
  • Disconnect any time. Click Disconnect beside Atlassian in BackendCloud and confirm Disconnect Atlassian from this project?. MonstarX forgets the sign-in straight away. To remove its access in Atlassian too, revoke it under Connected apps in your Atlassian account settings.
Can MonstarX close or edit my Jira issues?

No. It can search and read issues, and create new ones when you ask in Build mode. It cannot change or close existing issues.

Does this work with Confluence?

No. The Atlassian connector works with Jira issues only.

I have several Jira sites. Which one does it use?

The first one you allowed, unless you name another in your message.
