Start a project
In shortMost apps start with a few sentences in the prompt box on Projects and Build it. You can also let MonstarX ask questions first (Plan first), pick a look first (Design first), or start from an RFP, a spreadsheet, a Figma file, code on GitHub or in a .zip, a Lovable project, a public website, or an app your coding agent built.
Every MonstarX app begins in the same place: the prompt box at the top of Projects, which asks What are we building next? From there you can type an idea, attach files, bring in something you already have, or change how the first build starts. This section explains each way in, so you can pick the one that fits what you have in hand.
Which way should I start?
Section titled “Which way should I start?”Pick the row that matches what you have right now.
| You have… | Start with | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| An idea in your head | Describe your app | Type a few sentences, press Build it, and watch the app appear. |
| An idea you would rather say than type | Voice typing | Talk, and your words appear in the box as you say them — English or Japanese. |
| A rough one-liner | Auto Enhance with AI | MonstarX rewrites your line into a detailed request before you send it. |
| An idea with open questions | Plan first | A few questions, one at a time with suggested answers — the name and look included — then the build. |
| A strong opinion about the look | Design first | Several finished-looking first screens to choose from before anything is built. |
| Mockups, screenshots or files | Attach files | Pictures and documents go with your request. |
| An RFP, a spec or a brief | Build from documents | MonstarX reads them and builds what they describe — no typing needed. |
| A spreadsheet you run the business on | Build from a spreadsheet | An app around your tables, formulas and reports, with every row brought in. |
| A Figma design | Build from Figma | A working app that looks like your screens. |
| Code on GitHub, in a .zip or in Lovable | Import an app | Your app runs here as it is, and you keep building it by chatting. |
| A public website to recreate | Clone a website | A close rebuild of the pages you choose. |
| An app built in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor | Your coding agent | Your agent pushes the app to MonstarX in one sentence. |
Not sure which model to use? You do not need to choose — Auto picks one for every request. See Choose a model.
What happens after I start?
Section titled “What happens after I start?”Whichever way you start, MonstarX creates a project, opens its workspace and begins the first build. You can follow along in the chat and the live preview, or close the tab — the build keeps going on MonstarX’s cloud. When it is done, the app has a name, a checklist of what was built and a preview you can click through. See Follow a build.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”Do I need an account to start?
You can describe your app on the home page without one. Before the build begins you create a free account, and your description (and any files you attached) waits for you in the prompt box on Projects.
Can I change my mind after the first build?
Yes. Everything after the first build is a conversation: ask for changes in the chat, and every change is saved as a version you can go back to. See Versions.
Which start is the fastest?
Typing a description and pressing Build it. Plan first and Design first add a minute or two up front, and usually save you a round of changes later.
Where is the New project button?
In the bar at the top of MonstarX. It brings you back to the prompt box on Projects, with the cursor ready to type.
