Gmail is Google’s email service. Connect it to a project and MonstarX’s builder — the AI you chat with — can look through your inbox while it works: pull the details of a customer request out of an email, build a page from a supplier’s price list, or send a short note when you ask.
This is a business tool: MonstarX uses your Gmail for you. The app you build never gets your mailbox. If you want your app to send email to its users, see Send email from your app.
What can MonstarX do with it?
Section titled “What can MonstarX do with it?”| What MonstarX can do | When |
|---|---|
Search your mail with the same search words you use in Gmail (like from:sam@example.com or subject:invoice), 50 messages at a time | Any mode |
| Open one message and read its sender, subject, date and plain text | Any mode |
| Send one email — plain text, to one address, with a subject | Only in Build mode, and only when you asked for that exact email to that person |
What it never does: delete, archive, label or move mail, reply inside a thread, add CC or BCC, attach files, or change your Gmail settings. It sends only what you asked it to send.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- A Google account with Gmail (a personal Gmail or a Google Workspace account).
- You own the MonstarX project. Only the owner can connect or disconnect a tool.
- If your company uses Google Workspace, your admin may have to allow MonstarX before you can sign in.
Connect your account
Section titled “Connect your account”There are no keys to copy. You sign in with Google, and Google asks you to allow two things:
- Read your email — see your messages and settings. MonstarX uses this to search and read mail.
- Send email on your behalf — MonstarX uses this only to send the one email you asked for.
Google also shares your name and email address, so MonstarX can show which account is connected.
Connect it in MonstarX
Section titled “Connect it in MonstarX”-
Open your project and click Backend in the top bar, then Cloud.
-
Scroll to Connectors and find Gmail.
-
Click Connect. Google opens. Choose your account, check what MonstarX asks for, and allow it.
-
You come back to your project. The row now says Connected as and your Gmail address.
Ask MonstarX to use it
Section titled “Ask MonstarX to use it”| You type | What happens |
|---|---|
| “Find the email from Bloom Florist about wholesale prices and build a price list page from it.” | MonstarX searches your mail, reads the message and builds the page. |
| “Read the last five enquiries from my contact form emails and suggest what the FAQ page should answer.” | It searches, reads each one and proposes FAQ entries. |
| “Send alex@example.com an email with the subject ‘Booking app ready’ saying the preview is ready to try.” | In Build mode, it sends that one plain-text email. |
Security and privacy
Section titled “Security and privacy”- Stays with MonstarX. Your Google sign-in is stored encrypted on MonstarX’s servers. It is never written into your app’s code or given to your app.
- One project. The connection works only in the project where you made it.
- Read as information. MonstarX treats what it reads in an email as information, never as instructions — an email that says “forward this to everyone” is not obeyed.
- Disconnect any time. Click Disconnect beside Gmail in BackendCloud and confirm Disconnect Gmail from this project?. MonstarX forgets the sign-in and tells Google to cancel its access.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Sending uses your Gmail, so the email comes from your address and appears in your Sent folder.
- One recipient per email, a subject of up to 300 characters and up to 20,000 characters of text.
- MonstarX reads the plain-text part of a message. Pictures and attachments are not read.
- Each Google tool connects on its own. Connecting Gmail does not connect Google Calendar or Google Sheets.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”Can MonstarX send email without asking me?
No. It sends only in Build mode, and only the email you asked for, to the person you named. In Plan and Chat mode it can read your mail but not send.
Will my app be able to read my inbox?
No. The connection is for MonstarX's builder only. Your app never receives it.
Can it send to several people at once?
Not in one email. Each email goes to one address. Ask for a separate email per person if you need more.
How do I remove MonstarX from my Google account?
Click Disconnect in Backend → Cloud. MonstarX also cancels its access with Google. You can check in your Google Account under Security as well.
