Connect ElevenLabs to your MonstarX app
In shortElevenLabs turns text into natural-sounding speech in many voices and languages. Paste your ElevenLabs API key into Backend → Cloud and ask for a voice feature, like a Listen button on each article. The audio is saved with your app's files and played in the page.

ElevenLabs makes AI voices that sound like real people. Connect it and your app can turn any text into speech in the voice you pick, from ElevenLabs’ library or your own account.
MonstarX AI can already read text aloud with no key (see Add AI features to your app). Choose ElevenLabs when the voice matters: a particular voice for your brand, more natural narration, or a voice you created in ElevenLabs.

Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- An ElevenLabs account. Plans include a number of characters of speech each month; see ElevenLabs’ pricing. Free plans have limits on commercial use.
- Optional: a voice you like from the voice library, or one you made yourself. Note its name so you can ask for it.
Get your key
Section titled “Get your key”-
Sign in to ElevenLabs and open Developers → API Keys.

Create a key. You can limit it to what your app needs (text to speech, and reading voices) and give it a credit limit.

Copy the key.
Connect it in MonstarX
Section titled “Connect it in MonstarX”-
Open your project and click Backend in the top bar, then Cloud.

Under Connectors, click Connect beside ElevenLabs.

Paste the key into API key.

Click Connect ElevenLabs. The row shows Connected, and your preview restarts with the key.
Ask MonstarX to use it

Security and privacy
Section titled “Security and privacy”- Your key is stored encrypted with this app and used only by its server. People using your app never see it.
- The text your app sends goes to ElevenLabs under your account and their terms. The audio comes back to your app and is stored in your app’s files.
- Only the project’s owner can connect, update or disconnect ElevenLabs.
- To replace the key, create a new one, click Update keys on the ElevenLabs row, paste it and click Save keys. Publish again, then delete the old key.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- ElevenLabs is used for text to speech. To turn speech into text, the built-in MonstarX AI already does that.
- Only use cloned voices of people who agreed to it; ElevenLabs’ terms require it.
- Long texts use more characters. A 1,000-word article is roughly 6,000 characters.
Frequently asked questions

No. MonstarX AI reads text aloud with no key. ElevenLabs gives you more natural voices and the choice of voice.
Can my app use a voice I created in ElevenLabs?
Yes. Ask MonstarX to use it by name; the app reads your voices from your account.
Where is the audio kept?
In your app's file storage, as MP3 files your pages play. You can see them under Backend → Files.
What does it cost?
ElevenLabs charges your account by the characters it speaks. MonstarX adds nothing.
